Michael Bowlds is the President and CEO of Mountaintop Marketing Group, LLC. Mr. Bowlds is an award winning sales, business development, and marketing professional with over 15 years experience in marketing and extending services to the government, financial, corporate, and academic markets. A highly regarded government contracting expert, Michael Bowlds has established Mountaintop Marketing Group as one the top government marketing firms in the country. Mr. Bowlds is also a heavily sought after speaker and nationally recognized advocate for small and minority business concerns.
Mr. Bowlds was awarded the “2009 Advocate of the Year” award by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MEDWeek NY Region) and applauded for direct leadership, guidance and support in assisting Small and Minority Business firms with securing over $200 Million in government contracts for 2009 alone! He was named “2009 Maryland Business Champion” by Gazette of Business and Politics. Mr. Bowlds was selected as a finalist for the “2009 Lewis B. Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award” by the National Small Business Association (NSBA). Nationally recognized as a leading Minority Business Champion, Michael Bowlds and Mountaintop Marketing Group hosted and was the primary underwriter for the 2009 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Minority Business Awards Reception and Gala. Capping an exceptional year of service to the small business community, Michael Bowlds was awarded the prestigious “Verl Zanders Outstanding Advocate of the Year” Award by the U.S. Department of Commerce sponsored, National Capital Area Minority Business Opportunities Center. Most recently, Michael Bowlds was named one the “2010 Top 25 CEOs” by the Gazette of Business and Politics. Also, Michael Bowlds was named one of the “50 Powerful Men In Business” by the Minority Enterprise Executive Council.
Mr. Bowlds was named Board Chairman for the National Capital Area Minority Business Opportunities Center Advisory Board in September 2008 and continues to serve in this capacity. Mr. Bowlds serves on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and was a founding member and financial underwriter of the Montgomery County Chamber sponsored Government Contracting Network. Mr. Bowlds served on the Board of Directors for the National Women’s Business Center (NWBC) through June 2007.
Michael is highly active in his community. Michael serves as a formal Mentor to small business firms via the Montgomery County Small Business Mentorship Program. Michael was also a founding member and instructor for the Veterans Institute for Procurement (VIP), an 8 week business training course offered to Veteran business owners, completely free of charge.
Mr. Bowlds began his public sector sales career with Primark/Disclosure (PFID - now Thompson Financial). Mr. Bowlds was selected to lead PFID's Mid-West Regional Sales Office. Marketing financial business data and analytical tools to the financial, corporate and public sector markets, he made an immediate impact winning the PFID's "1998 Rookie of the Year" award in his first year of sales. Mr. Bowlds followed-up this achievement with a record setting performance the following year and closing the largest Public Sector contract in the firm’s 25 years of existence. He was selected from PFID's global sales force as "1999 Sales Person of the Year."
Upon leaving Primark and establishing highly successful sales/marketing tenures with other major corporate and government sales organizations, Mr. Bowlds established Mountaintop Marketing Group. Mountaintop was founded in 2001 fueled by Mr. Bowlds' sincere passion to support small businesses throughout the country. Providing comprehensive advertising and marketing solutions for B2B sales, Mountaintop soon established a focus on Government (B2G) marketing and business development services. Mountaintop was realigned as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in 2006. Mountaintop boasts an extremely impressive international client base ranging from small to mid-size businesses through large multi-billion dollar firms such as Bloomberg, Nielsen, Boeing, and many others.
Michael “Cassidine” (nickname) Bowlds is a native of Indianapolis, IN, and has a beautiful 11 year old daughter, Maliyah Bowlds. A Computer Science major from the University of Maryland, Mr. Bowlds also holds two engineering certifications (MCSE, NCE). Mr. Bowlds is a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force.
